OUR MISSION: The Humane Society of Central Texas is committed to improving
the quality of life for animals and people in Central Texas through
humane sheltering, community education and advocacy on behalf of all animals.
The Foster Program is a critical component to our success at the Humane Society of Central Texas. Foster Parents provide food, shelter, social skills and a loving environment while we continue to promote the shelter pet in search of that special Forever Home!
Foster Families provide our shelter dogs and cats with a chance to "take a break" from shelter life.
Timing can range from a weekend "sleep over" to a few weeks.
Other Foster Parents work with ill, injured or orphaned shelter pets until they are healthy, strong and ready for adoption.
Timing for these foster pets is usually longer, from three weeks to a couple of months.
Multiple foster parents may help a single foster pet during recovery.
Some Foster Families like to "test" certain breeds or a specific animal in their home environment to see if it "clicks."
FOSTER PARENT CLASS held every Tuesday at 5:30.
FOSTER-TO-ADOPT is always an option!
All As of January 2011, we have more than 300 animals in Foster Homes across Central Texas. Our goal by the end of 2013 is to have the ability to place 900 animals in Foster Homes.
