Found A Pet

WHAT SHOULD I DO FIRST IF I HAVE LOST OR FOUND A PET?

1. CONTACT THE HUMANE SOCIETY OF CENTRAL TEXAS, 254-754-1454!
We can't help if we don't know a pet has been found!

2. Contact CenTexLost Pets.
http://www.centexlostpets.org/ This is a great resource for helping lost and found pets.

3. CHECK FOR MICROCHIP*.
Most veterinarians, pet clinics and our shelter will scan a pet for microchip at no charge to you.
*A WORD OF CAUTION: BE SAFE... do not try to load an animal in your vehicle if you are uncomfortable or fear for your safety.

4. POST FLYERS!
Post in your neighborhood, nearby grocery stores and gas stations. Bring a FOUND PET flyer to our shelter and we will post it for you! We advise that you be as general as possible and make the possible owner identify the pet to you.

5. NEWSPAPER ADS.
Most newspapers, including the Waco Trib, will run FOUND PETS at no cost. Check with the publication for more details.

REMEMBER: A spayed or neutered pet is LESS LIKELY to roam, run away, get in fights with other pets or people, and is typically a healthier, happier pet. You also won’t have to worry about a new litter of puppies or kittens! Please spay or neuter your pet!

MICROCHIPS SAVE LIVES! We offer low-cost microchip ($20 plus tax) for ANY pet in Central Texas!
