Cash Donations to help with the adoption expenses

This past year HSCT has tried much different adoption pricing scenario’s ranging from $125, $95, $75 and $50. We have determined that we have more adoptions at the $50 price point that any other with the exception of our cost covered events offering $10 and FREE adoptions.  Between the $50 and $75, although not much of a dollar difference, there was a significant increase in the adoption numbers. The direct cost of an adoption, not including labor or overhead, is as follows:

Rabies Vaccination              $10.00
MicroChip                             $10.00
Intake Vaccinations             $15.00
Spay/Neuter Cat                   $25-$45
Spay/Neuter Dog                 $45-$110
Direct cost Cat                      $60-$80
Direct cost Dog                    $80-$145

From this you can gather that with every adoption we process we are not covering the direct cost. But the reality is that we cannot move animals from the shelter into homes at a price greater than $50 at the volume that we need. We still see many, many more animals arriving than we can find homes for so we cannot reduce our outcomes by increasing our cost. Here is where you come into play. In order for us to find homes for the animals arriving we need to be able to keep our adoption prices down.  The HSCT in the past received funds from the ACO contracts with the Cities and County that utilized the facility. Those funds now go to the City of Waco and the HSCT’s only source of funding is from donations and fundraising events. Will you please consider a gift to help us accomplish our mission to find homes for all of the animals that are arriving daily?
